The long path of renewal
Dialogue and discernment in a time for change
Led by Chris Chapman
In a time when radical change is needed in the way we live together and when more people than ever are looking for meaning and direction through online spiritual resources, what is the place of spiritual direction in enabling the renewal of our common life?
Some of the ‘tools of our trade’- attentive listening to experience, discernment and openness of heart and mind – are those most needed in this time. How can we share these more widely?
This refresher day will help us explore our own personal response to the pressing needs of our time, and how together we might act as leaven in the dough for the long path of renewal.
Many things have to change of course, but it is we human beings above all who need to change. We lack an awareness of our common origin, our mutual belonging and of a future to be shared by everyone. This basic awareness would enable the development of new convictions, attitudes and forms of life. A great cultural, spiritual and educational challenge stands before us, and it will demand that we set out on the long path of renewal.
