The Spidir Course does not offer any kind of formal accreditation. It is ecumenical and open to women and men, laity and clergy. The Course meets one day a month over two years and includes a 50 hour residential each year. The cost is £400 a year, which includes the residential.
Topics Include: The nature and purpose of spiritual direction; prayer; discernment; resistance; life choices; resources & approach; the spiritual direction relationship; rules of life; vocations; supervision & safeguarding; conflict; stages on the journey; retreats. Similar courses, based on a mixture of input and experiential learning, have been adopted in many other dioceses. Course members will be asked to share their own understanding concerns as an important part of the learning process.
Numbers will be limited to approximately 16 and a genuine commitment to attending all the sessions is important. Help can sometimes be given towards the cost of the course and travelling. If local or national Covid-19 lockdowns are enforced during the course, replacement sessions will be arranged online if at all possible.
